Recent climate strikes all across Europe have illustrated the ability of civil society to mobilize on contemporary issues. Beyond environment, other issues such as social or gender inequalities, migrations etc. are regularly highlighted in the news through public demonstrations. To accompany and support all these movements – or to combine with other struggles – what roles do artists have to play?
Through the use of different mediums (photographic, cinematographic, infographic…) they are able to offer new stories about so called “crises”. Lined with a technological – and therefore immersive – dimension, art and creation have this mobilizing capacity capable of influencing our perceptions of the collective struggles to be waged. Object of many fantasies by those who instrumentalise it through other negative narratives, the question of migration must also be reappropriated by these creative actors, to bring another look and a new narrative to the topic of migration.
