SPEAKER & CURATOR

Andrea Cusumano (Palermo, 1973) is an Italian/UK artist, theatre director, scolar and cultural
entrepreneur. He taught at Central Saint Martins, Goldsmiths and Rose Bruford colleges in London.
He was Palermo’s Deputy Mayor for Culture from September 2014 to February 2019 and during
this duty he led the organization of Manifesta 12 – The Planetary Garden and Palermo Capitale
Italiana della Cultura. As an artist he presented his work in major international festivals and venues from New York, Edinburgh, New Delhi, Cuba, Mexico City, Berlin, Vienna and Roma.

Currently Andrea is on the Board of Directors of the Foundation Manifesta 14 Pristina, member of
the board of the Fondazione Orestiadi, and Project Director for Sicily and the Mediterranean Area
of the Fondazione Terzo Pilastro Internazionale. He is the founder and the Artistic Director of BAM – Biennale Arcipelago Mediterraneo.

Andrea Cusumano will be a speaker at the opening of Transeuropa Festival at Teatro Garibaldi at 18h on Thursday 7th Novembre.
